June 30, 2009 Wowee! We have had quite the start to the racing season this year...3 races have netted us 2 wins and a 2nd-place finish! While racers always believe and hope they can be contenders week after week...it takes a lot of work and some luck to actually deliver such finishes! Indeed, we have been incredibly blessed to have such an encouraging and fun start to the 2009 season after waiting all last year for Mike to heal and not racing for a year. As they say, not in our wildest dreams... The first race at Roseville was Happy Birthday to me, thanks dear! Then, we had a great time at Vegas with Jim and Gail Sims with us and Cale and Danny racing as well - all 3 cars in the RPM stable were racing...amazing! And Madera, always a favorite track for Mike, was a good display of driving from the competitors! The races have been really fun to watch...good, close racing is a tribute to the skill and quality of the racers on this SRL Southwest Tour...can't say enough about this wonderful little division that Steve Fensler birthed and Larry Collins is doing a fabulous job building. Especially in economically-uncertain times and having to attract racers who were feeling more than a bit unappreciated in the later years by NASCAR, it feels good to go to the races again! It was very cooperative of SRL to give us the month of June off as Cale graduated (with all the activities that go with that!), his 18th birthday; we also had Kathy's --th(!) birthday, Danny finished off his dream, undefeated and District 40 tournament champion Little League team; Monica had a big dance recital weekend and acquired a lamb to show later this fall at the Kern County Fair. So, we had a lot of important stuff to do in June and now we're ready to race again!! So, kudos to our team for doing such a great job, thanks to God for racing luck falling our way (even in the scheduling!) and may there be another good and safe weekend ahead for us and all the race teams. Looking forward to the fireworks!...the ones in the sky (tee-hee). |
