Well I know that this website has been up for a long time now, and I started racing a while ago, but I'm finally getting around to blogging. My racing career started way back in May and trust me, I haven't stopped having fun since then.
On May 3rd, I started driving my Bandolero in my first races at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That being my first race, I didn't finish incredibly high, but since then I have tried to improve. Since then, I have raced at numerous racetracks including Orange Show Speedway, Toyota Speedway at Irwindale and Havasu 95 Speedway.
Since I have started racing, I've made many friends in the racing world also. These friends include people like Chris Trickle, Ricky Schlick, Aaron Anderson, Parker Malone, Trevor Huddleston, Devan Newberry and Ryan Cansdale. That is a lot of friends. They have helped me improve greatly in my times of driving. My desire to improve has really helped me out. Going from starting out finishing 10th in my first race, to coming back and having a top finish of 3rd is really an improvement. I finished just outside the top 100 for national points this year, and my goal for next year is to race enough to be a points contender.
I really have learned a lot from M.K. Kanke since he has been in the racing business for so many years (not saying that he's old, let's just say he's a veteran) . He has taught me just about every corner and crack of every track I've raced at. His son Cale has also helped me out a lot. He has improved incredibly himself, and is now one of the best Legends drivers around. He has helped me with making me understand that God is the only one who has complete control over the racetrack.
Through racing, I have started to learn a lot about car control also. My dad, Dan Nikolai, has helped me learn how to drive to get my car to handle to its fullest extent. He has also told me that being a clean driver will get me the most respect out on the racetrack. Also, he has said that if and when I get in a tangle up, to make sure that I make things right with the other driver. That is how I have made some of my friends.
Racing has taught me much more than just about cars, but how to make friends and reach out to God more easily. I hope that I can continue racing for a long time, because it is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
